“The penny dropped, and I realised that voice work is not a ‘nice to have’, but the foundation on which is built any hope of connecting with an audience”Student
If English is not your mother tongue, and you would like to modify your own accent to be more clearly understood by native English speakers, perhaps to enhance your employment prospects, the Vocal Maintenance and Vocal Empowerment Programs will enable you to begin the process of re-training your speaking muscles. Then, a personalised program of exercises will assist you to speak English with clarity and confidence. Contact Flloyd for details.
An accent is simply the way you express yourself through language. There is no such thing as a ‘good’ or a ‘bad’ accent. The accent depends upon where and how the speaker learnt the language (for example: from birth, growing up in a particular family, social and geographic community, or as a second language at school or college).
Anyone can learn how to speak in their own accent more clearly, more intelligibly and more skilfully.
If you’d like to improve your ability to speak clearly in your own accent, or acquire more understanding about the pronunciation and speech patterns of English, or if you need to learn how to use a different accent to play a role in a play or film, I can help you to acquire the necessary skills to do this.
If you are producing a play or film that requires specific accents or dialects, I can train your performing artists to develop the skills they will need.
Contact me to discuss your requirements, and to arrange for some coaching.

“I come from an Indian origin background and someone had told me I need to get the Australian accent if I was looking for a career in broadcast, and an important lesson I took back from Flloyd’s classes is, “There is no right or wrong, it’s different. Your accent is what makes you, you just need to be audible and clear to be understood. I am now an ABC Community Announcer.”Student
